Charity
A note from an admirer:
Good Morning,
I hope I am contacting the right people. My grandson has been a
patient at Brenner's PICU unit for the past 4 weeks. We have SO
APPRECIATED the quilts donated to the unit by your group. What a
comfort to see the brightly colored quilt in his little bed and know
that it was made with so much love and time.
We would like to make a donation to your Guild in support of your
efforts in making these quilts. Please send me a mailing address.
Heartfelt thanks again.

Workshops
Charity Scrappers Workshops
Charity Scrappers workshops will be held every 4th Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Kernersville Masonic Lodge. Bring a salad to share. Coffee, unsweetened tea, coffeecake and dessert will be provided (and sometimes-soup!). Bring your sewing machine and sewing supplies. An ironing board, iron, a cutting mat and rotary cutter will be available. Quilt kits will be available for piecing. There's always a quilt awaiting quilting. On occasion, there will be “special focus” workshops, but we will usually simply work on some aspect of creating charity quilts. Call Linda Starkey (336) 996-7610 with questions, suggestions, or concerns.
Charity Scrappers Bi-Annual Contest
Charity Scrappers is sponsoring a bi-annual charity quilt contest. A winner will be chosen based on points every six months, and in the event of a tie, there will be a drawing for the winner. Points will be given on the following work performed on charity quilts:
Piecing a top - 3 points
Quilting or tying - 4 points
Sewing on binding - 2 points
Finish binding - 1 points
Donating a finished quilt top - 5 points
Donating a finished quilt - 6 points
Piecing challenge quilt - 4 points
Attending all-day workshop - 5 points
Attending evening workshop - 3 points
Donated panel quilt - 2 points
Although Charity Scrappers will track points, participants will need to also track their own points along with the quilt ID # (in case we make a mistake). Linda Starkey has been tracking workshop attendance and charity efforts since the first of August, so those of you who have been working on charity quilts will receive credit for what you've already done.
Two winners will be chosen bi-annually and will receive a $25 gift certificate from one of the following:
Sew Original
Knit One Smock Two
Randy's Quilt Shop
Sewingly Yours
Ye Olde Forest Quilt Shop
