Block of the Month - this year's BOM will feature retro blocks from our first year. The cost will be $2.00 per month and will include the pattern designed by Terri LaRue and a piece of fabric to include in your block. The blocks will be different sizes and will include many techniques. make a block to be included in a block drawing at the next meeting. If you win, you will get a bunch of blocks to make into a quilt or wall hanging. You can make one for yourself to make a sampler quilt at the end of the year. Cotton Boll Quilts will have a workshop for putting your sampler together at the end of the year.
Challenge - In the year prior to the quilt shows, a challenge fabric or theme is chosen by a committee and the membership is challenged to make quilts/tops for the quilt show. These quilts/tops are then shown at the quilt show.
Caring Projects - Those interested in making quilt tops for charity, can get fabric packets if available and make any pattern quilt top. the guild usually has two meetings a year where caring quilts are made during the regular program. Caring projects are then presented to various organizations chosen for the year by the membership.
Library - The Guild has over 100 quilting-related books and magazines. You may borrow as many books as you wish for one month. Books must be returned the following month. Donations of books and magazines are gladly accepted.
Donation Quilt - The dnation quilt is chosen by ballot and the blocks are pieced, assembled and quilted by volunteers from the membership. We sell raffle tickets to raise money for Guild projects. The quilt is raffled at the next quilt show.
Round/Row Robin Exchanges - The participant makes a center block/first row for her quilt. The block and any other required fabrics, etc. are placed in a bag and exchanged at the monthly meeting. The individual border or rows is added and exchanged to the next person on the list, keeping the quilt top a secret from the owner. Fianlly the quilt top/rows are revealed to the owner.
Secret Pals - In December of each year, Secret Pal names are swapped to those wishing to participate. Every month for the next year, each participant will give a secret gift to his/her Secret Pal. Each time a hint should be given to help the receiver guess who their Secret Pal is. Usually a special gift is given to the Secret Pal or their Birthday month. In December, Secret Pals are revealed.
